Our invitation, envelope and ticket samples are now at the printers and knowing Jerry Hill, it will all be completed very soon.  We'll purchase our postage stamps before the month is over and believe it or not, the school year will be ending soon.  That means scholarship time.  Our scholarship committee will be getting together about mid May to make their selections.  And Homecoming on October 17 & 18 will be here before we know it.

Our condolences to the family of exes dad, Arthur Schwarz, who passed away on April 8, 2008.  He was dad to Phillip Schwarz, Class of 1968 of Austin; Mike Schwarz, Class of 1972 of Thorndale; Glenn Schwarz, Class of 1976 of Taylor; James Schwarz, Class of 1984 of Taylor; and the late Kenny Schwarz, Class of 1979 who passed away September 24, 1996.  He will surely be missed by so many.

A couple of weeks ago there was such a lovely 2 full page article with colored photos in the newspaper of the wild Mustangs.  There were 200 from Nevada arriving at the Southwest Stallion Station in the Elgin area and it's owned and operated by Charles Graham, Class of 1949 and wife, Nancy Smith Graham, Class of 1951.  They have adopted several of the horses in years past and are donating hay and feed for the yearlings during their two month stay.  The Mustang Heritage Foundation which pays for the use of the facility is funded through corporate sponsorships, donations and government grants.  People apply to train the horses and afterwards can keep them at no cost or put the horse up for adoption.  They are refunded $200 for each horse and can train up to four horses.  They have 90 days to train their horse or horses and then they go to Extreme Yearling Makeover where they compete for more than $20,000 in prizes in Fort Worth.  It must have been a sight to see those 200 wild Mustangs come out of the four 18-wheelers after a 2 day journey from Nevada, all cooped up.  The photos were so lovely of the horses and we hope they all get a good home.

Just had the nicest visit with Billie Jo Fisher, Class of 1993 of New York City, home from a two weeks working visit to China.  After all the alterations were made she got to see a couple of run throughs of the "Sound of Music" which will be touring China for the next 8 months.  She appreciated her boss in New York allowing her the time off to go but now she has to catch up at her regular job.  While in China and in the town where she worked, there were 8 Starbucks and they patronized 4 on a very regular basis along with McDonald's, Subway, Pizza Hut and a number of local Chinese restaurants.  Took some beautiful photos of the flower gardens as the temperature is the same most all year long.  Then she lost her camera but had the disks in her purse.  Our thanks to her mom, Jennifer Patschke Fisher, Class of 1970 for bringing Billie Jo by the house.  We thought she would be here a week but only could stay four days mainly for the wedding of good friend, Charlotte Summerlin (now Tonsor), also Class of 1993.  It was so good to see Billie and she says she's coming home for Homecoming as it's their 15th year but don't know of any plans in the works right now.

Picked up the list of Seniors who will graduate in May and our newest exes as of then.  Our thanks to Jerri Foust, School Secretary for being so accommodating to our organization.  Now we have to get them added to our rosters so they will get invitations to Homecoming.

There was a nice photo and announcement of the engagement of Timothy Hejl and Ashley Weymouth in the newspaper.  Timothy is the son of Frankie Hejl, Class of 1972 of Taylor.  Our congratulations to them.

Had such a nice phone call from Rita Kelm, wife of Wayne Kelm, Class of 1970 of Coupland.  Carter Thornton, Class of 1968 of Colfax, California and their good friend, had called to see when Homecoming is so he can make plans to come.  Rita was going to call him back to let him know the date.  Carter usually receives a trophy at Homecoming for traveling the farthest and we always look forward to seeing him.

There was a cute photo of Jared Wayne Finch, Class of 2000 and his fiancé in the paper.  It listed him of Taylor but we have an Austin address for him so if anyone can give us a correction, please do.  Our congratulations go out to them.

Crystal Ballard, Class of 1996 of Lakewood, Colorado is due in this week to attend the wedding of her cousin, Tiffany Gerren, Class of 2002 and to celebrate her birthday with her family here in Thorndale.  Happy Birthday on April 23, Crystal!!  Thanks to mom, Pam Unnasch Ballard, Class of 1974 for this information.

There was such a nice photo and announcement of the engagement of Laurie Raetzsch to Adam Brett Unnasch, son of Glenn Unnasch, Class of 1969 of Austin.  Congratulations to all including Sixty and Ruby Unnasch, Adam's grandparents.

Huge article and colored photo of Nathan Beasley, Class of 2003 trying out for the Texas Bulldogs, a semi-pro football team.  After two years of battling cancer which is in remission now, he's a linebacker for the Bulldogs.  Our congratulations to Nathan on several things, especially on the cancer remission.  Now we need his address as the article says he bought a house in Thorndale and we have a Lexington address for him.  We sure need these address changes as soon as we can get them.
