| Our high school girls have done it again.
They set a new school record in basketball and now they've set a new school
record in softball by winning district and still going. Congratulations
and good luck to these athletes. Our boys came in second in district
but they don't start playoffs until next week. Good luck to them,
too!!
While we're congratulating peple, we extend our congratulations to the Rockdale Reporter's staff on all the awards they walked away with at the South Texas Press Assn's Better Newspaper contest. They took the Sweepstakes award for the 11th time in 18 years in the large weekly newspaper division. They publish an edited version of our exes news each week and we really appreciate them. There was a nice photo in the newspaper of members of the Linwood Acres Garden Club who observed Texas Arbor Day 2008 last week by planting six roses around downtown Rockdale. Exes mom and wife, Joy Graham, Carole Camp Simank, Class of 1957 and Marie Cuba Freiling, Class of 1952 were among those in the photo. Their Garden Club was established in 1979 and is affiliated with the Texas Garden Clubs Inc. We received such a nice phone call from Starla Rodenbeck Hall, Class of 1985 this week. She ran into one of her classmates who has never been on our rosters and we thank her so much for thinking of us. She got her married name and address and now we have Samantha Gamble Mundkowsky, also Class of 1985 of Taylor on our rosters. Starla told me that Samantha went to school all the way through her Sophomore year here and was wondering if they had class reunions, etc. Now she will receive an invitation to Homecoming and anything else to do with the Class of 1985 from now on. She was on our list of over 1100 exes that have never been added to our rosters so it's good to be able to mark off at least one. Our thanks to Starla for calling in this information. State representative Steve Ogden presented Senate Proclamation 284 honoring the 2008 Thorndale Bulldogs state championship team last week. There was a nice photo in the newspaper of the group. Five Seniors on the team accepted the certificate. Quite an honor and we extend our congratulations to them again. Sure would like to find a few more of our
exes who have never been added to our rosters. The dates of the classes
are within one or two years. If you know of their whereabouts and
you can get an address, please give us a call.
And now for a few of our "lost" exes along
with last known city of their residence if known:
Homecoming is October 17 and 18 with the Friday night game versus Milano. Our Triple SSS (Stuff,Stamp,Seal) night is tentatively set for Thursday, August 28 at 6 pm at the school business office board room. The Firemen's Hall has been secured and Carol will again do our catered meal on Saturday, October 18. The 2008 Seniors have been added to our rosters. Our Scholarship forms are ready for our Scholarship Committee to add their selections. So we're geared up and almost ready for the big event. We hope you have marked your calendars so you won't have a conflict. Plan to attend and have a great time visiting with classmates, friends, teachers and anyone else. Everyone is invited and we always wish for a big turn out. |
| Be sure to keep us in mind when you hear
of an ex-student's move for a change of address, a marriage, death or an
achievement of any kind that we would be interested in hearing about.
If you have any information for us or if you need information from us, just give us a call or let us know in any way and we'll do what we can to help. We love to hear from our exes. Contact any of the following:
