| It's sort of a believe it or not.
One day I can send e-mail but can't receive any and the next day, just
the opposite. But, we're working on it anyway.
Sent out a few letters to the new addresses sent to us by Janice Schultz Patschke, Class of 1955. Now the wait for the replies. I hope they are all correct as that means we found some of our "lost" exes. Our condolences to the family and friends of our own L. Vernon Guthrie, Class of 1942 of Lake Jackson. He passed away November 28, 2007 and will be missed by many. Our thanks to Olive Dickerson Olive, Class of 1941 for calling this in to Evelyn Beard Young, Class of 1955 and to Evelyn for relaying it on to us. Frances Foehr Freels, Class of 1953 of Taylor called and we had a great phone visit. She seems to be doing quite well after the stroke she had a few years back. Good to hear from her. We've had a number of folks inquiring of the well being of Nancy Barron Heleman, Class of 1957. Nancy was involved in the Christmas Parade float accident a couple of weeks ago and really needs our prayers. She is in very serious condition. >From Janice Schultz Patschke, a note that one Delores Lee Taylor of Pflugerville passed away December 12, 2005. Since there is probably only one person by that name living in Pflugerville, we assume she is ours. Delores was in the Class of 1932. If my memory serves me correctly and it doesn't always, a gentleman in Lexington found her Senior ring when he was out metal detecting. He was going to return it to her after about 75 years buried in the ground and we were just wondering if he ever got around to doing that. I hope you read "This Week In Bulldog History" each week in the newspaper. It's so interesting and lists names of many of our exes that we don't hear from very often. A real neat little article. We sure enjoy it. Our condolences to the family of Effie Dean Kelm who passed away November 30, 2007. All 12 of her children survive her and she was 93 years young. One of those children was Arnell Gamble, wife of Larry Gamble, Class of 1953. She will surely be missed by many. Received a short e-mail from ex-teachers, Norman and Ruth Damerau. They have moved and sent their new address in Willis along with their new e-mail address. It was good to hear from them. They had planned to come to Homecoming but something came up at the last minute and they didn't make it. We missed them as they usually come. Our condolences to the family of exes dad, Melvin Morris who passed away December 8, 2007. He will be missed by so many of our exes and some who aren't even exes, yet. Nice photo of the workmen at the General Store going up in Rockdale. Louis Gifford, Class of 1971 and his crew were pouring concrete in the photo. On March 15, 2008, Audra Rives, Class of 2002 will have a new last name of Mittelstet. Now we need to find her new address. Cute photo of the couple in the newspaper. Nice photo in the newspaper of Yvonne Williams Yount, Class of 1953 of Rockdale and her great granddaughter. They were with the Crown Garden Club when they helped decorate the Christmas tree in the lobby of Richards Memorial Hospital. The Flag Football Superbowl champions were coached by Wayne Leschber, Class of 1989 and Stephen Niemtschk, Class of 1980. There were other coaches but not among our exes. Nice photo of the whole team with coaches in the newspaper. Our congratulations to the team and the coaches. A little more on our Scholarship Program,
picking up where we left off last time.
Rev. Clyde Poldrack, Class of 1955 of Cedar Creek was preaching in Rockdale last Sunday. He gave us a call to invite us to attend but we were involved in a stew dinner fund raiser at our church in Taylor. It was so nice of Clyde to call and we would love to have heard our good friend's sermon. Our thanks to Clyde for the invite. If all goes well, we can be found on the web at www.thorndale.txed.net and you can always call 512-898-2072. Our e-mail will get to us sooner or later at locojo@totalaccess.net or you can write to Thorndale Ex-Students Assn., P. O. Box 393, Thorndale, TX 76577. We love to hear from our exes. |
