It's been a pretty good week among our exes unless you consider my e-mail is not working AGAIN.  Received some e-mails and even managed to send some before it went down. Keep on sending your news as I will get it sooner or later.  If it's urgent, please use the telephone.

Angie Schneider Becker, Class of 1965 and Mary Ann Sielaff Rodenbeck, Class of 1949 stopped by on their way to the St. Paul gym to do their walking.  I should join them.  We visited in the middle of the street like most of us here in Thorndale do from time to time.  They mainly wanted to k now if we had heard from Nancy Barron Heleman, Class of 1957 who was hurt in the Christmas parade float accident in early December.

Speaking of Nancy, from her brother, Elton Ray Barron, Class of 1956, she is improving each day.  So far, both legs are doing well and we pray they keep on improving.  So many folks ask about her every week.   We need to keep her in our prayers.

Mary Ann Garner Hill, Class of 1953 of Canyon Lake and her husband, Bill Hill, called on their cell phone while they were on a trip.  They are so much fun.  Serious business, though, in setting up a scholarship in Mary Ann's sister's name, Lillian Garner Stiles, Class of 1946 who was mauled to death by a pack of dogs in her front yard in 2005.  We did receive a check for a full scholarship from them to be used as a basis and money to be added by family and friends that they solicit donations from; a wonderful way to memorialize a loved one.  They were passing the cell phone back and forth as each one thought of something else to say.  One was writing down the address of the ex-students and just having a good time.  Enjoyed visiting with them so much.

Just can't believe that our Carol's is closing permanently with their last day being December 22. Carol Walther Wuensche, Class of 1963 and husband Freddie Wuensche, Class of 1959 along with their children who are also exes, have catered our Homecoming lunch on Saturday for the past several years.  If we can't talk them into catering for us, we will surely miss their great food and service.  And they are so nice to work with us on count, etc. right up to the last minute.

Marvin "Dusty" Rodenbeck, Class of 1950 is having some health issues and we need to keep him in our prayers.  He has been in and out of the hospital and we wish him well.

We received a very nice e-mail and follow up letter from Margaret McNabb, daughter of Margaret Ott Ewing, Class of 1931 of Austin.  Janice Schultz Patschke, Class of 1955 sent the lead on this one to us but the address was the daughter's.  Margaret Ewing is 94 years of age and up until last November was living in a gated apartment facility.  Due to poor health, she was moved to a skilled care facility, still in Austin.  She enjoys receiving letters and cards so if you want to contact her, give us a call. Our many thanks to Margaret McNabb for answering our letter.

Clyde Poldrack, Class of 1955 of Cedar Creek was passing through Thorndale and gave us a call, just checking in.  Always good to hear from him.  Told us of all the nice exes that attended his guest speaker position at a church in Rockdale the week-end before.  So happy some were able to attend.

We hear that Janet Laffere Schwarz, Class of 1968 of Austin is doing very well after her surgery at M. D. Anderson Hospital in Houston.  She will start radiation treatments very soon so do keep her in your prayers.  She has a long road ahead of her.

Had a very unusual phone call from Snook for "the person that writes the Thorndale newsletter".  Leroy visited with her first and then I got on the phone with her.  She was trying to track down Don Guthrie, Class of 1957 for some other person.  I didn't have much trouble tracking Don down, but neither one of us could figure out who was trying to get hold of him.  The lady's phone kept cutting off and she would call back.  Left no names or phone numbers, so if she reads this, please call again.  Said even though she isn't from Thorndale, she reads and enjoys our news.  Our thanks to her for that.  Hope she is able to get in touch with Don, one way or another.

Had an e-mail from our webmaster, Suzanne Quick, at the school.  Said she would like to have the three newsletters that weren't sent due to the lack of e-mail.  This has been done and they are already on the web for those of you who read it there.  Suzanne does a great job with our newsletters and we thank her for that.

We have a new address for Micah Merz, Class of 1993 in Schertz.  Thanks to his Christmas card with the address on it.  We need to keep up with our exes, so keep us in mind when you have a change of any kind.  We surely will appreciate it.

Be sure to keep us in mind when you hear of an ex-student's move for a change of address, a marriage, death or an achievement of any kind that we would be interested in hearing about.

If you have any information for us or if you need information from us, just give us a call or let us know in any way and we'll do what we can to help.  We love to hear from our exes.
