| What a great holiday we have had.
Family straggled in every day for almost a week. Now the clean up
begins and we have to learn to write 2008 on everything with a date on
it. And there is not much movement among our exes.
We did hear that Nancy Barron Heleman, Class of 1957 is improving. Our prayers are that she keeps on getting better each day. She still has a long road ahead of her so do keep her in your prayers. Our last report from Moses Hinistroza, a Senior in High School this year and the son of Felix Hinistroza, Class of 1982 is that he's doing very well. I think they want to keep a close eye on him for a while though. We hear that he's very anxious to come home. My brother, Jimmy Reavis, Class of 1957 of Universal City was here Christmas Day and again to pick up sister, Betty Reavis Morlan, Class of 1959 of Ohio. She will visit his family for a couple of days before catching a plane back home. We already miss her. Noticed a picture in the newspaper of Gary Anders, Class of 1984 of Taylor. He works with the Pony League and they were installing new foul poles on their field. Nice to see how involved our exes are in their communities. Ran into Ila Mae Becker Jansky, Class of 1949 of Taylor in the store the other day. She said she enjoys reading our news and it helps her keep up with our exes. Always good to hear. Our condolences to the family and friends of Cleda Marie Gunn Thorn, Class of 1949 of Hurst. Many thanks to Billie Kelm Schwarz, her classmate, for calling this information in. Cleda was buried in Taylor and several of her classmates attended the funeral. She will surely be missed by many. I know a lot of folks didn't get to see the TCU versus Univeristy of Houston game as it was on the NFL channel. TCU did win the game. Curtis Clay plays on the TCU team and he's the son of our Curtis Marcel Clay, Class of 1980 of Rockdale. Sure would like to have seen that game. Our thanks to Jeff Olbrich, Class of 1981 of Pflugerville for this information. Jeff works in the same building as Marcel's wife. Small world!! A little more on our scholarship history
from where we left off in 1992. In 1993, we gave 7 scholarships.
The Ex-Students had enough money to give two and they went to Mark Biar
and Shelley Bishop. We had one that was not accepted from the previous
year and it went to Michele Biehle. The Florine Poldrack Woodward Memorial
Scholarship also went to Shelley Bishop. Florine was in the Class
of 1950 and passed away June 27,
Now for some of our "lost" exes. These
have been lost for two plus years and some for a number of years.
If you know of their whereabouts, please contact us. Class year,
name and last know city will be listed.
It seems like the exes that have never been
added to our lists are easier to find than our “lost" exes. If you
can find any of these folks, please let us know. We sure would like
to send them an invitation to Homecoming this next year.
We will be giving another scholarship this year. It will be a Jack and Lillian Stiles Scholarship. An ongoing scholarship is in the works in this name, but it's still in the process of working out the details. This will bring our total to nine (9) to be given to seniors this year at the awards assembly. |
| Be sure to keep us in mind when you hear
of an ex-student's move for a change of address, a marriage, death or an
achievement of any kind that we would be interested in hearing about.
If you have any information for us or if you need information from us, just give us a call or let us know in any way and we'll do what we can to help. We love to hear from our exes. Contact any of the following:
