Now for the big, big news.  Our boys basketball team won the state 1A championship for the second time in a row - Back to Back.  We are so very proud of these future exes.  You can't beat a record of 36 straight wins with only 1 loss to a 4A school.  The town celebrated with sirens, bells, horns and whistles as they arrived back in town on Saturday afternoon.

There was an article on an optical business in the newspaper and a large photo of Wynn Scruggs, Class of 1979 of Thrall having his glasses adjusted.  Small world.

Our condolences to the family of Bryan Wayne Mahlow who passed away March 3, 2008 in Round Rock.  He was only 49 years old and the son of Margaret Pelzel, Class of 1959 of Temple.  He will surely be missed.

Mr. Don Hughes of Taylor keeps us updated on his grandchildren, the Hazelwoods.  Casey Hazelwood, Class of 2001 of Pflugerville will become Mrs. Steven Duane White on April 12, 2008.  She will also have a new address in Austin.  We send our congratulations to Casey and our thanks to Don for remembering us with this change.

A young man by the name of Michael Riquelmy came to install Road Runner at our house for our new internet access and just in passing, said his wife went to school in Thorndale.  That always perks us up and automatically asked what her name was.  Now we have the name and address of Ashley Coates Riquelmy, Class of 2006 in Round Rock.  She also has a brother, Mark, Class of 2004 who attended school here.  Always so happy to find our exes and especially to get their address, etc.  Our thanks to Michael for letting us know.

We have some good news from Carol Walther Wuensche, Class of 1963 of Carol's here in Thorndale.  She has agreed to cater our Homecoming lunch on Saturday, October 18, 2008.  We really appreciate Carol for doing this for us.

Our thanks to Chas Hines, Class of 1998 for the address changes for Amanda Hines, Class of 1997 in Taylor and Elizabeth Hines, Class of 2002 in Thorndale.  Chas is so good to work with us on her family's address changes and others that she knows of.

Nice photo and short article on some of the entertainment at the Tejas Art and Book Festival held in Rockdale last week.  Bailey McAnulty, Class of 1967 was playing in the Community Band and Glenn Schneider, Class of 1979 was playing guitar with his band, Broken Chains, with Christian sounds.  Our exes do get around and we are proud of them for doing so.

Our congratulations go out to Angela Kiesling, Class of 2002 on her engagement and upcoming marriage to Heath Ray Scruggs on April 15, 2008.  There was a real nice photo in the newspaper of them.  Angela's dad, Keith Kiesling is an ex-student from the Class of 1973 as is her granddad, Delma "Sloppy" Kiesling from the Class of 1941.  We wish Angela and Heath many happy years together.

Our thanks to Evelyn Beard Young, Class of 1953 of Rockdale for calling in a change of address for Betty Lou Ralston Logan, Class of 1947 in Cedar Hill.  Betty moved to be closer to her children.  She nearly always comes to Homecoming an it's so good to see her each year.

There was a nice article and picture in the newspaper of Billy Clark Graham, Class of 1951.  He was being honored with a plaque for his 30 years with the Taylor Soil and Water Conservation District.  Our congratulations to him for this service.

Ran into Elmore Lincoln, Class of 1958 on the street in front of our house pushing the son of daughter, Renay Lincoln, Class of 1987 of Taylor.  The baby is precious and Elmore is a good grandpa.

Thanks to Jennifer Patschke Fisher, Class of 1970 for sharing the wedding invitation of Charlotte Summerlin, Class of 1993 of Austin.  She will marry Dennis Tonsor on April 12, 2008.  Our congratulations and best wishes to Charlotte and Dennis.

Don't forget to mark your calendars for Homecoming on October 17 and 18.  Plan to attend both days if possible as they are completely different and you will see some folks on Friday night and a different group on Saturday.  You will surely enjoy both.
