With Homecoming 2008 on October 17 & 18 we are gearing up to make sure we are ready.  Copies of our invitation, ticket and envelope are ready for our printer, Mr. Jerry Hill.  And with the end of this school year right around the corner, we have to plan for scholarships and other upcoming expenses.  We will be giving nine (9) scholarships this year and we are purchasing our stamps for our big mailing early, before the price of stamps increase in May and that's $1,025.00.  Since we operate solely from contributions, we have to really plan close.  So Angie Schneider Becker, Class of 1965, our Secretary/Treasurer, and I have been working very closely on this.

Our condolences to the family of exes Mom, Zula Stolte, who passed away on March 28, 2008.  She was mom to Barbara Stolte Smith, Class of 1956, Helen Joyce Stolte McCoy, Class of 1958 and Judy Stolte Jordan, Class of 1969 all of Thorndale.  She had so many descendants among our exes that it would take a book to name them.  Her grand children, great grand children and down to great, great grand children who will become our exes.  She will be missed by so many as she was a fixture in the stands at most athletic events when her children were involved and sometimes when they weren't.

Our records are now up to date, at least as of yesterday.  That's our lists of e-mail addresses, lost exes, scholarship information, list of exes that have never been on any of our rosters and address and name changes. The only thing left to do is print a new master list of all our exes with addresses.  I need to start thinking about purchasing a new mail list program that will hold more information than this older one does that we have been using for the past 20 or so years.

There was a nice, large, colored photo of Hollye Schwarz, Class of 2006 in the newspaper at the YMCA in Taylor.  They were working out with a new aerobic dance called Zumba.  Cute photo.

My sister, Betty Reavis Morlan, Class of 1959 of New Albany, Ohio is enjoying reading our news.  Says she looks forward to reading all the news, but really enjoys "In Bulldog History" because she remembers so many of the older exes when she was in school here.  We visit at least once every week by phone and many weeks more often.

There was a really cute picture of Jenna Hook, daughter of Lynne Falke Hook, Class of 1976 of Austin and granddaughter of Edwin Falke, Class of 1945 and the late Dorothy Richter Falke, Class of 1945.  She was receiving an honor for designing a "lab-in-a-back-pack" along with the rest of her team from Rice University where she attends college as did her Mom.  So cute and she looks just like Lynne did when she was in school.

Just had a phone call from Myrtle Hill Crumley, Class of 1957 of Austin and she was needing a phone number for one of our exes.  This is one reason we need to get a new mail list so we can keep phone numbers and other needed information.  Anyway, Don Guthrie, Class of 1957 is in Germany and wanted to look up Larry Wayne "Snooky" Simank, Class of 1957 who lives in Germany.  Myrtle called trying to get a phone number or town and we have neither since he gets his mail through an APO.  We look forward to hearing about Don's trip when he gets home and we are sorry we couldn't be of help to him.

There was a cute photo of Veronica Burgess, Class of 2005 in the newspaper.  She will graduate from Hawaii Pacific University on May 13 with a major in psychology and a minor in public relations.  Veronica will be speaking at a conference on April 5 on Effective Marine Mammmal Training.  Our congratulations to her.

We always talk about our exes doing so much.  There was a photo of the Lutheran women quilters in the newspaper and they are mostly exes and exes moms.  But, they have quilted 153 quilts to be sent to world relief and other special quilts to help with fund raisers plus 25 pounds of soap to be shipped with the quilts.  Now that's really something else.  We are so proud to claim these ladies among our exes.

Our thanks to exes wife and mother, Roaslie Biar, for sending along her new e-mail address and she says it’s working fine.  That's good to hear after all we went through with Total Access.
