What a great week this has been for our high school students and of course, they are our future exes.
The Band earned a first division rating at the UIL Marching contest in Giddings.
Many, many of our students ranked high with their farm animals at the Rockdale Fair.
Our Lady Dogs volleyball team won the district championship.
We are so proud of each and every one of our future exes.

Our condolences to the family of Dell Jewart, husband of Jeanette Fisher Jewart, Class of 1953, who passed away on October 17, 2007.  He will surely be missed by so many.

Nice photo of John Ramirez, Class of 1973 at the Rockdale Fair.  He was about to toss a ringer in horseshoes.

Delma "Sloppy" Kiesling, Class of 1941 broke his hip.  Had surgery and is now in rehab and doing fairly well.  We wish Sloppy a speedy recovery.  Missed he and Doris at Homecoming this year.

Our condolences to the family of exes dad, Clarence Hengst who passed away on October 25, 2007.  He was the father of Patsy Hengst Palm, Class of 1971 of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and father in law of her husband, David Palm, also in the Class of 1971.  He will surely be missed.  Such a nice family.

We had our fun business meeting here at the Olbrich home on October 25 at 6 pm.  We had 7 people in attendance.  Homecoming 2007 went in the hole a whopping $393.33.  In spite of the increase in ticket prices, the increase in  postage and printing and a smaller crowd resulting in less donations, just didn't come out.  We made a few dollars on our ticket sales, but the other expenses were more.
We will give out 8 scholarships again this year.  That's always good as the money is already in place for that.
We can't secure the hall, set up our caterer, set ticket prices or much of anything else until we get a football schedule sometime in February when the UIL re-aligns.
Our many thanks to Angie Schneider Becker, Class of 1965 and Gracie Schneider Cargill, Class of 1967 for all the goodies on the refreshment tables both Friday and Saturday.  They furnish everything except the cookies at their expense and that's a really big donation.
Also, our many thanks to Mary Ann Sielaff Rodenbeck, Class of 1949 for her donation of all the drinks both Friday night and Saturday.  These folks donate their time and money year in and year out and they don't know how much we appreciate them and their donations.
Thanks to Don Guthrie, Class of 1957 for his donation of all the photos he took at Homecoming.  His expertise in this area really adds to our memorabilia each year.  We appreciate Don's time and donation.
After visiting, going over our lists of deaths, lost exes, list of attendees both Friday and Saturday, we enjoyed cake, candy, cokes and coffee.
It was a good meeting and now we wait for the UIL re-alignment.

Janet Laffere Schwarz, Class of 1968 of Austin is having some major health issues and was having surgery at M. D. Anderson Hospital in Houston on Wednesday last week.  Our sincere get well wishes go out to Janet and we need to keep her in our prayers.

Leroy Niemtschk, Class of 1942 and wife just couldn't remain home any longer and are now in a rest home.  We missed Leroy at Homecoming this year as he was usually the first person there at our big bash on Saturday.  We wish them both a healthy and safe stay in their new home.

We have 152 couples among our exes.  This is so great to know this many of our folks are married to classmates.  This also saves us 152 postage stamps each year when we mail invitations as we combine couples and folks in more than one class.  There were 2,554 labels printed, but by combining the couples and the school is so very nice to put the teachers and staff in their mail boxes.  That saves us another 64 postage stamps.  So, we wind up mailing 2,338 invitations.  Then we re-mailed 33 of the 67 that were returned with incorrect addresses.  We will only add 30 to our "Lost" exes list because we didn't re-mail 4 of the ones returned, but found their addresses.  Our exes have done a wonderful job of keeping us updated on name and address changes and we really appreciate this.  We will start listing these "lost" folks when space permits.

We had 31 deaths among our exes this past year.  This is our saddest statistic to report.  This is less than the year before and we hope this next year will be even less.
