Special Services Policy
Thorndale ISD is a member of Burleson-Milam Special Services Cooperative.
Burleson-Milam Special Services, which was established in 1974, offers a variety of services for students with disabilities through the nine local school districts of Burleson and Milam Counties.
Participation in this cooperative assures this students with disabilities who are attending member schools will have access to free appropriate public education within the least restrictive educational environment.
All students, regardless of special needs, shall be provided balanced curriculum and instructed in the same Texas Essential Knowledge and Skill as fellow students in a manner that will appropriately meet their needs.
Any student between the ages 3-21 is eligible to be evaluated for a suspected disability. Students who are deaf or blind are eligible for services before age three.
To request services, contact your local school campus. Ask for the person who handles referrals for students with a suspected disability. In order or initiate a referral, you will need to complete required forms.
