Alumni Feature - Jessica Cooper

This month, we’re proud to spotlight Jessica Cooper, a 2007 Thorndale ISD graduate whose journey since high school has been both inspiring and influential. A multi-sport athlete and active member of FCCLA during her time at Thorndale High School, Jessica was known for her involvement in volleyball, basketball, softball, track, and student leadership. Today, she continues to lead with purpose, compassion, and faith.
“Since graduating, life has taken me down some unexpected roads—some beautiful, some broken—but every step has shaped who I am today,” Jessica shares.
After high school, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University–Central Texas, a major accomplishment that reflects her perseverance and resilience. She now lives in McGregor, Texas, where she serves as the Executive Director of the McGregor Chamber of Commerce.
Jessica is also a published author of two inspiring books: It’s Jess the Beginning—which proudly features the Thorndale water tower on the cover—and Now Is Not Forever: Embracing God in Every Season. She travels as a speaker, sharing her personal testimony and encouraging others to believe in second chances. Her message is powerful: your past doesn’t disqualify you from a meaningful future, and grace changes everything.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Jessica is a proud wife and mom to a beautifully blended family. Their journey, filled with both pain and healing, is a testament to the hope and restoration that faith can bring.
Reflecting on her days in Thorndale, Jessica says:
“I have so many fun memories—like playing sharks and minnows between the old gym and the elementary school, or singing Moscas En La Casa in Mrs. Pantaleon’s Spanish class. And of course, Friday nights under the lights were always something special. At the time, it just felt like a football game, but looking back, it was so much more—the whole town showing up, cheering together—it was pure magic.”
Her advice to current students is filled with both nostalgia and vision:
“Soak it all in. These years go by so quickly, and one day, you’ll realize just how special even the small moments were. But also remember—high school isn’t your final destination. There’s a big, beautiful world out there waiting for you, full of purpose, growth, and second chances. So enjoy the now, but don’t be afraid to dream big.”
Jessica concludes with heartfelt words about her hometown:
“Thorndale will always be a part of my story. A lot of life happened there—some good, some hard—but it shaped me. Being in a better place now makes it even more meaningful to look back with gratitude. It’s a small town that left a big mark, and no matter where I go, it’ll always feel like home in its own way.”
