Greetings Bulldogs! Happy Friday.
The Bulldog School Spirit is Alive and Well!
From the moment students started to arrive for school, you could tell that today is going to be a good day!
The energy around the district has been electric because today is the highly anticipated 1st pep rally of the school year!
There are Camo outfits and maroon and gold as far as the eye can see! From Pre-K to 12th grade, from teachers to administrators, folks were ready for 2 o’clock!
It is amazing what Volleyball, Cross Country, Football, and Marching Band season can do for school spirit!
I hope you will come out and cheer on the Bulldogs tonight with Varsity Volleyball at 4:00 pm and then Varsity football at 7:00 pm in Thrall for the Battle of 79

3 National College Board Recognition Award:
Congratulations to Juan Acosta!!! Juan is being recognized by the College Board and is receiving three distinct awards: the National Recognition Award for Rural/Small Town Schools, the National Recognition Award for First Generation College Students, and the National Recognition Award for Latino/Hispanic Students. To qualify, students must meet the following criteria as Juniors…
- Must have a GPA of B+ (equal to at least 3.3 or 87%-89%) or higher at the time they are submitting. Weighted and unweighted GPAs are considered.
- Must have a permanent address in the United States, a U.S. territory or U.S. military base, or attend a DoDEA school. U.S. citizenship is not required.
- Must identify as Black/African American, Latino/Hispanic, Indigenous/Native, first-generation college student, or attend high school in a rural area or small town.
- Must be in the top 10% among PSAT 10 and PSAT/NMSQT test takers in 11th grade in their state for their award program OR have received a 3+ score on at least 2 distinct AP Exams by the end of 10th grade.
Community Members 65 and Older - Senior Sports Pass:
Don’t forget, our community members who are 65 and older can swing by the central office building Monday-Friday and get your free Senior Pass that gets you into home games for free! We have had a TON of cards picked up but I know there are some more fans out there who still need to swing by.
FREE Way to Recognize a Teacher, Counselor, or Principal in TISD:
Have you heard of the HEB Excellence Awards? You probably did when our very own Abby Jones, TES Counselor was recognized as a finalist and a huge check!
Well, nominations are open for this year's recipients and I think it is the PERFECT way to show your appreciation for a staff member's hard work and dedication.

Cross Country Update:
Our runners headed to Temple again this morning. Our kiddos are ranked against competitors ranging from 1A all the way to 4A!
For the Lady Dogs, our top finishers were Raven (12th place) and Nadia (13th place). For the boys, our top two finishers were Case McDaniel (28th) and Jaime Llanas (35th)

Recently, Cross Country traveled to Belton for their invitational meet. Congratulations to Raven for finishing 6th and Nadia for finishing 8th in that meet!
Volleyball Update:
Our varsity team is off to a great season. They have played some pre-district and tournament games so far. They already have double-digit games under their belt, have a record of 10-7, and are ready to take on Thrall.

Reminder: TISD August 2024 Bond Update:
At a recent school board meeting, our bond project managers; Project Control shared exciting bond updates that we have been working on.
As we have mentioned before, since passing the bond in May, we will work through six bond phases:
- Programming
- Schematic Design
- Design Development
- Construction Documents
- Bidding
- Construction Administration
We completed programming and are wrapping up the schematic design. Although things can shift and adjust all throughout the process, we are feeling confident in releasing some preliminary information that we know folks have been anxiously waiting for:
- When will we start construction?
- Answer: We are on schedule and if everything continues as planned, we hope to be entering the construction phase in April/May!
- When will the high school be complete?
- Answer: We are expecting to open the doors for the Fall of 2026. That means our current sophomores, class of 2027 will be starting in the new high school!
Our next big announcement to watch for is the big release of draft renderings and floor plans. Please stay tuned for those in September.

***ALL visitors must have their driver's license scanned in person to enter the cafeteria. No exceptions. You may go to any campus office to have your driver's license scanned as early as
Wednesday 9/4 8:00am-3:30pm. You are also able to check in Tuesday at 7:00am but this will be very busy.
Forms will be sent home with all Elementary students today and Middle/High School students may request one at their campus office.

Thorndale Lions Club:
Thorndale recently created a chapter of the Lions Club thanks to the leadership and guidance from neighboring organizations in Milam County.
One of the easy projects the Lion’s Club is known for is collecting donated prescription glasses and then connecting those glasses with someone in need, nearby or across the globe!
If you have an old pair that no longer fits or you no longer use them, please consider dropping them in the box (as seen below) that is located in our elementary school and in our high school front offices.
