Volume 2, Issue 7: 11/8/24

Greetings Bulldogs! Happy Friday.

Monday, November 11th is Veteran’s Day. However, Thorndale ISD celebrated with another great ceremony today (Friday, 11/8/24).

We want to recognize and thank all of the veterans in our community and appreciate the many who were able to join us for today's celebration. We appreciate your service to our country and the sacrifices you have made and were willing to make for all of us.

I want to give a special thanks to our amazing high school principal Mr. Betak who coordinates and facilitates our annual event. This is an extra responsibility that he so willingly organizes each year. Additionally, I want to thank our numerous student speakers, Veterans Day essay contest winners, and our elementary 1st-5th grade who sang God Bless America led by their music teacher Mr. Freeman. Finally, I want to thank our amazing Food Service Director Mrs. Jeni Anders and our FCCLA sponsor Mrs. Larissa Ensor for putting on the great breakfast for our veterans and their families.

Lastly, I want to thank local veteran and BBQ connoisseur, Trey Felton for delivering our Keynote speech. It was a great event and a great time had by all.

Fall Festival - Succes!:

The annual TES Fall Festival was a huge success! Thank you to all the staff and families who volunteered to make the event happen. I also want to thank all of the families who came out to enjoy the night with us. It was a very successful fundraiser, and it seemed that good times were had by all.

I also want to thank the Middle Matters parent/teacher group who put on a very spooky haunted house throughout the middle school.

THS Career Day!:

Thank you to our amazing high school counselor Mrs. Andie Warner for coordinating the annual career fair at the THS gym this week. Also, thank you to the numerous career representatives who came out to share their career with our students.

Fightin’ Band from Bulldog Land Update:

Congratulations to our Fightin' Band from Bulldog Land as they competed on Saturday, 11/2/24 at the Area competition. They finished in the top 4 and are now advancing to STATE! As a reminder, we will NOT be having school on Tuesday, 11/12/24 to support the band. We hope you will join us at the Alamodome in San Antonio if you are able.

Also, let's give a shout out to our Band Seniors for their dedication over their career at TISD.

FCCLA Officer Training:

Thorndale FCCLA Chapter Officers attended Fall Leadership workshops today at the Region 13 Service Center!

With roughly 150 members in attendance from various Central TX chapters, Thorndale FCCLA had the opportunity to collaborate with fellow members and learn about all the opportunities FCCLA has to offer!

Outdoor Adventures Students Get Certified:

Congratulations to the TMS students who received their Hunters Ed certifications!

Cross Country Updates:

With over 150 boys and 150 girls competing from across Texas at the 2A UIL STATE cross country meet, our four sophomores from TISD represented us well.

Please help me congratulate the following students:

  • Raven placed 25th overall

  • Skielee placed 26th overall

  • Nadia placed 74th overall

  • Case placed 56th overall

Volleyball Updates:

After finishing the regular season as undefeated district champs, the girls went on to beat Snook convincingly on Tuesday night. After that, we took on a tough Flatonia team in Fayetteville and came up short.
Congratulations girls for an awesome season! We are very proud of each of you.

Football Updates:

Football has a big home game tonight (11/8/24) against Holland. This game determines what seed we will get entering the playoffs. We need to win by more than 13 to secure 2nd place in the district. A win of any less would put us in 3rd place, and a loss would put us in 4th.

Come on out and support our kiddos in our last regular season game of the season.

I also want to give a shout-out to our amazing SENIOR leaders. Please check out our list below and be sure to celebrate them next time you see them:
