As seen in the first edition of the TISD State of the District magazine, our first Alumni Spotlight is Savannah Garcia Beasley, Class of 2016.

Savannah Garcia Beasley emerged as Valedictorian of Thorndale's Class of 2016, laying the foundation for an extraordinary journey ahead. At Thorndale Independent School District, she immersed herself in a diverse range of activities, from volleyball, basketball and softball to NHS, NAHS, Class Council and yearbook editor, honing her leadership and teamwork skills.

Following her passion for healthcare, Savannah pursued a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Texas A&M University, graduating in 2020 with a resounding "WHOOP!" From there, she ventured to Chattanooga, Tennessee, where she dedicated four years to serving in the Emergency Department and Trauma ICU at Erlanger Medical Center.

As Savannah excelled in her professional endeavors, the Lord had greater plans in store for her personal journey. It was at Erlanger where Savannah met the most kind and caring general surgery resident, Justin. Their connection blossomed, leading to a beautiful marriage in 2023.

Despite the demands of her career, Savannah remained committed to personal and professional growth. Returning to academia in 2021, she recently achieved a significant milestone: earning a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Tennessee. Savannah plans to transition into the role of a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Savannah attributes much of her success to the values instilled in her by Thorndale's educators — values like hard work, discipline, and respect. She emphasizes the importance of gratitude for their unwavering support and guidance throughout her journey. “Be thankful for those special individuals as they will be your cheerleaders for the rest of your life!” quoted by Savannah.

As Savannah and Justin eagerly await the arrival of their first child together in December of 2024, her story serves as a powerful reminder of the transformative power of perseverance, faith, and the support of mentors. With determination and compassion, Savannah exemplifies how one can overcome obstacles and achieve their dreams.
